ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — A New Market man died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck Thursday morning,
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), the incident occurred October 29, 2026 at approximately 10:35 a.m.
Xavier Smith, 22, was riding a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle on Spotswood Trail at a high rate of speed when a 2026 Toyota pickup attempted to cross from New Hope Road.
The motorcycle struck the side of the pickup, throwing Smith into the median.
He was taken to Sentara RMH Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The pickup’s driver and passenger, both of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
