The National Weather Service (NWS) in Washington DC has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Virginia including the counties of Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Page and Warren.
Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the NWS issued the following alert:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT
Mixed precipitation expected. A mix of light freezing rain, sleet, and snow begins Wednesday evening.
Precipitation mainly becomes a steady freezing rain Wednesday night. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch expected from 7 p.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday.
Temperatures will warm Thursday morning, transitioning freezing rain over to rain.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
Also on Tuesday, Shenandoah National Park announced it would close Skyline Drive at 5 p.m., in anticipation of the severe weather.
