WIC Expands Clinic Hours in Page County, Surrounding Areas
LURAY, Va. — Families in Page County will now have expanded access to nutrition services via the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
In a recent media release, the Lord Fairfax Health District announced an expanded schedule designed to increase appointment availability and reduce wait times for families enrolled in the federally funded WIC program.
WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy food benefits and referrals to health and social services for pregnant and postpartum people, infants and children up to age five who meet income guidelines.
The program helps eligible families access nutritious foods, individualized nutrition counseling, breastfeeding promotion and peer counseling support, developmental screenings and community referrals to address gaps in care.
“The WIC program is excited to add more available clinic days,” said Alyssa Brown, WIC coordinator for the Lord Fairfax Health District. “This marks a step forward to serve more families in need.”
District officials said additional staffing has allowed the program to expand office and clinic services across its service area.
All WIC services are provided at local health department offices.
The updated WIC clinic schedule is:
• Frederick/Winchester: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Page: Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday, 8:40 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
• Warren: Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Shenandoah: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Families interested in applying or determining WIC eligibility may contact their local health department during on-site office hours.
