Two Main Street Businesses Close in Luray
LURAY, Va. — Two local businesses announced permanent closures in late 2025.
Lisa Huffman, owner of Poppy’s Barber Shop, closed her doors after nearly three years in operation. The 302 West Main Street location first opened in March of 2023.
After months of irregular business hours, Huffman announced the closure in a December 29 Facebook post.
She cited personal reasons for the decision to shutter the brick and mortar shop, but later announced plans to continue offering her services on a mobile basis.
According to a December 31 Facebook post, appointments (at client homes) may be scheduled by calling or texting 540-677-0730.
Taste of Home Downtown, a family-style eatery, also announced its closure after only a few months in operation. The restaurant opened at 55 East Main Street in July.
By October, owner Susan Roberts-Dinon had expanded the business to include Hero’s Haven, a sports bar located in a lower-level space beneath Taste of Home Downtown.
Negative reviews, however, soon plagued the restaurant. Social media complaints surfaced alleging incorrect meal tax calculations, and an apparent equipment failure led to the last-minute cancellation of Thanksgiving reservations. The restaurant announced a temporary closure on November 27.
On December 30, the following update appeared on their Facebook page:
It is with great sadness to inform you all that Taste of Home and Hero’s Haven Downtown is permanently closed.
I am not going to go into detail as to why this venture ended and, I would appreciate no negative comments from any of you like I have had in the past five months.
For those of you that did indeed support us, thank you!
We tried to bring a service that was needed in our community and it has taken me weeks to investigate as to why this venture failed and unfortunately, it started the very first day of opening and continued from that day on and there was no coming back.
I do want to thank the employees that worked so hard and stuck by me those last few weeks to help try and keep everything going, you are all angels and are so appreciated and loved.
With all that being said, this restaurant is for now, a turn key for anyone that would be interested.
Although I don’t own the building, Bob and Tammy Falter are the owners and, the best landlords and friends you could ever have.
If anyone would be interested, please pm me [on Facebook].
Thanks again to everyone and I will miss seeing those of you that came in everyday!
The 55 East Main Street building was constructed in 1933, and once housed Hudson Hardware, a business owned by D.P. Ayers. In the 1970s, it was home to Cave’s Paint and Hardware. Prior to Taste of Home Downtown, the building was occupied by The Valley Cork restaurant.
The 302 West Main Street building was constructed in 1933 and consists of several suites. Throughout the years, it has been home to numerous independent businesses. A “for rent” sign is currently displayed on the barber shop door.
