Two Campers Destroyed in Shenandoah Fire
SHENANDOAH, Va. — Late Thursday, firefighters responded to a reported camper fire that spread to a second camper and threatened two others.
Crews were dispatched at approximately 10 p.m. August13, 2026.
When the first units arrived, they found two campers fully involved in flames, with two additional campers threatened by the fire.
According to a written statement from the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters from Engine 702 deployed a hand line and quickly extinguished the bulk of the blaze, preventing the fire from spreading to the two other campers.
The Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident with 14 members and was assisted by the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department and the Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad.
The statement did not provide a specific location for the incident. However, several social media posts indicated the campers were located in the area across from Kite’s Store. That location has not been independently confirmed by fire officials.
No information was immediately provided regarding injuries, the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
