Tornado Warning Issued for Page County and Surrounding
LURAY, Va. — On Friday, May 30, 2025, the National Weather Service in Washington, DC issued several alerts for Page County and surrounding areas.
A Tornado Watch was originally in effect through 8 p.m. However, at 5:49 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mount Jackson, or 16 miles southwest of Woodstock, moving east at 40 mph. A Tornado Warning was issued shortly before 6 p.m.
Local residents received alert calls from the Reverse 911 System and via Emergency Alerts. A text alert read:
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for the areas of Central Rockingham, Southwestern Shenandoah, Central Greene and Page Counties.
Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are expected. Residents are being urged to watch for downed trees and to plan for possible power outages.
A Flood Watch is in effect until 3 a.m. Saturday.
