Suspect Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting in Page County
PCSO releases statement after March 31 incident
SHENANDOAH, Va. — A person was shot and killed by law enforcement after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a pursuit in the Naked Creek area.
According to the Page County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. on March 31, 2026, when a deputy responded to a call and encountered an individual wanted on a capias warrant.
When the deputy exited the vehicle, the individual fled, prompting a foot pursuit.
A review of body-worn camera footage showed that the individual brandished a firearm at the deputy.
After repeated commands to drop the weapon were not followed, the deputy discharged a service weapon.
Emergency personnel responded. The individual was pronounced dead.
The PCSO soon posted a social media alert to the community, asking them to avoid the area as personnel managed and processed the scene.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
In accordance with policy, the deputy has been placed on administrative leave.
The Virginia State Police Criminal Bureau of Investigation Division is handling the investigation.
Due to this being an open investigation, the PCSO statement indicated that no further information will be released at this time.
