State Police Investigate Crash Involving Warren County School Bus
RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that involved a Warren County school bus.
According to VSP, the incident occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025.
The bus, which was was transporting 10 elementary students, pulled onto US Route 522 from a stop sign at Chester Gap Road. A1994 Ford F-150 was unable to avoid colliding with the bus.
Eight students were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and have since been released. Two other students were released to their parents at the scene.
The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The bus driver, William Payne Jr., of Front Royal, also sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Payne, 66, has been charged with failure to yield.
The crash remains under investigation.
