Stanley First Responders ‘Go Pink’ to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness
STANLEY, Va. — Local first responders are helping to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection by “going pink” in October.
In a social media statement, the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department posted:
This October, we’re proud to join the fight against breast cancer by lighting up our station pink.
Every light represents hope, strength, and support for those battling breast cancer, for survivors, and for families who have lost loved ones.
We stand with our community and encourage everyone to stay informed and support early detection. Together, we shine a light on awareness and hope.
Also this month, members of the Stanley Police Department are wearing pink versions of their official badges.
A statement on their official Facebook page read:
The [pink] badges serve as a reminder of our department’s commitment to raising awareness, honoring those who have lost the battle and supporting our survivors.
The department also announced that the Sentara RMH Mobile Mammography Unit (which offers 3D mammography) will be at Ed Good Park on November 6 & 17, 2025.
From the Sentara website:
If you are over the age of 40, a physician’s referral is not required for an annual screening mammogram. You will, however, be asked to provide your primary care physician’s contact information.
Insurance is billed for patients who have coverage. Care is provided to patients who are uninsured on a prorated basis.
