Stanley Firefighters Contain Train Engine Blaze
PAGE COUNTY, Va. — On Friday, the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) was dispatched for a train engine on fire at the Brady Road railroad crossing, near Calvary Independent Brethren Church.
According to a media statement from SVFD Chief Jason F. Pettit, the incident occurred January 24, 2025, just after 10 a.m.
Upon arrival, Engine 24’s firefighters observed light smoke coming from the second train engine.
The crew pulled a “front bumper line,” and extinguished flames that were contained to the engine compartment. This type of line is a short length of hose stored on the front bumper of a fire truck, and typically used for quick access to extinguish trash or vehicle fires due to its readily-available location.
Engine 24 and 12 firefighters responded to the incident. Page County EMS and Stanley Police Department also assisted.
