Stanley and Shenandoah Crews Battle Lucas Hollow Fire
STANLEY, Va. — On Wednesday, the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) responded to a brush fire on Lucas Hollow Road at approximately 6:17 p.m.
Units arrived on scene at 6:24 p.m. and immediately began working to contain the blaze.
At 6:30 p.m., Engine 24 was dispatched to Algers Drive for structure protection, and a reverse 911 alert was sent to area residents.
Approximately three acres burned.
Firefighters from Stanley, Shenandoah, and the Virginia Department of Forestry brought the fire under control with 100% containment after about 1½ hours.
A total of 20 firefighters from Stanley and six from Shenandoah, along with personnel from the Virginia Department of Forestry, Page County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia Department of Transportation, and Page County Fire and EMS, contributed to the quick response and containment of the fire.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage.
