SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK, Va. — Firefighters have contained 75% of what is not being called the “Horsehead Fire” near Stull Run Trail, as crews continue working to suppress the small wildfire that began early August 26, 2026.
The fire has burned approximately 1.26 acres and continues to smolder in leaf litter, according to the U.S. Wildland Fire Service.
The area received 0.4 inches of rain Wednesday evening.
The fire is not threatening any structures, and all park trails and facilities remain open.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
