Page County Schools Announce 2-Hour Delay for Mon., Dec. 15
LURAY, Va. — On Sunday, Page County Public Schools administrators attempted to notify students and parents that Monday classes would be on two-hour delay. Due to notification system issues, however, school officials are asking the public to help spread the word via other means.
The following announcement was posted on social media shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 14:
Important Weather Alert From Page County Public Schools:
This is a message from Dr. Paul Johnson, Acting Superintendent.
Due to low temperatures, Page County Public Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2025.
All12-month employees are asked to report on time.
Students are asked to report to their bus stops 2 hours later than you normally would.
Thank you, and please be safe.
Within the hour, school officials learned that the text / email notification system used to alert students, parents and teachers of schedule changes was not functioning. Except for those on Facebook, the message about Monday’s delay was not seen.
School administrators quickly posted the following message on social media:
We apologize for the delay in your receiving the weather alert via push notification, call, text, and email.
The alert was sent out at 7:05, but has yet to send. The company is aware of this problem, as other schools are experiencing issues.
Please spread the word to those who may not have social media. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience.
As of Sunday evening, the Weather Channel reported area temperatures as low as 12°, with wind gusts at 15-20 mph. Monday’s forecasted high temperature is 33°, with calmer winds expected.
