Page County School Board Announces New District 5 Appointment
LURAY, Va. — On Tuesday, the Page County School Board appointed a Shenandoah man to represent District 5 for the remainder of 2026.
Pennsylvania native Brit Thomas was selected during the board’s February 17, 2026 meeting, filling a position previously occupied by Charlie Queen Jr.
Queen resigned only two months after winning the election.
The school board began seeking a replacement in January.
In his application, Thomas stated:
I care deeply about the well-being, safety and development of our students.
Every child deserves to attend school in an environment where they feel physically safe, emotionally supported and free to focus on learning and personal growth.
According to a school board media release, Thomas is currently a senior manager at Lakeside Book Company in Harrisonburg, with a strong focus on health, safety and environmental concerns.
Thomas also serves as a board member of the Blue Ridge Safety Association and the Keezletown Babe Ruth League.
