ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — A Shenandoah man accused of breaking into a church last November was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Staunton.
Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson confirmed the arrest and details of the case by email to Shen-Valley Times.
Shawn Alan Shifflett is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and destruction of property.
Shifflett, 28, allegedly broke into a Rockingham County church while trying to evade police because he had outstanding warrants related to thefts in Shenandoah and Elkton.
The specific church was not identified.
Court records show Shifflett has faced multiple charges across several Virginia counties.
He is due to appear in Augusta County General District Court at the end of this month.
