Page County Group Invites Community Members to Fundraising Event
May 4 gathering will feature dinner, music, auctions and more
PAGE COUNTY, Va. — On May 4, 2025, the Page County Democratic Committee (PCDC) will host its annual fundraising dinner.
This event, to be held at the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department social hall, is made possible by substantial volunteer hours and donations from local businesses and individuals.
This year’s theme, “Roots, Branches and Blooms,” highlights the PCDC’s ever-evolving role in the community.
“We’re focusing more about who we are in terms of relevance in what is primarily a red county,” said PCDC Vice Chairman Gary Grant, “but we’re also focused on bringing like-minded people together to do good — not just for Democrats, but for everybody.”
Grant, a talented local artist who also designed the event’s logo, went on to elaborate how this year’s theme correlates to the PCDC mission.
“The idea of ‘Roots, Branches and Blooms’ is that we certainly have enough local political roots in this county to be able to look at the past few decades, and say we have accomplished wonderful things,” said Grant. “We are very mindful that we need to branch out, and to represent a good cross-section within the county. As we grow our numbers, we’re sure to see additional positive results, or blooming, from that growth.”
Tickets for the fundraiser are $35. Attendees will enjoy a choice of beef tenderloin or fried chicken (from DR's), four vegetable options (including salad bar), rolls and butter, desserts, tea and lemonade.
The event will offer red and white wines, major beer brands, and craft beer from Luray’s own Hawksbill Brewing Company. Each dinner ticket includes a complimentary beverage. Drinks thereafter are $5 cash per drink.
According to its website, the PCDC was created to facilitate and encourage the full participation of Page County citizens in choosing their elected officials and controlling their civic destiny. However, the group’s focus is not just political.
“It’s important that we have a positive local impact overall, and truly walk the walk of what we stand behind,” said Grant.
One such example is the partnership between the PCDC and the Rec Center of Luray, who have joined forces to match volunteer opportunities with community needs. Page County Community Works was also established. The organization “partners with local civic, church, school, and community groups to strengthen rural communities and restore trust and neighborliness across political differences.”
Sponsorship opportunities for the May 4 fundraising event are available to individuals and business owners. These sponsorships are available at the bronze level (includes one complimentary ticket), silver level (includes two complimentary tickets) and gold level (three complimentary tickets).
“We want to make this event as accessible as possible for everyone interested in attending,” said Grant. “Sponsorships are a great way to help offset the cost of what would’ve been higher-priced tickets. With sponsorships, there’s more inclusion.”
Event sponsorships include a mention in the printed program (unless anonymity is requested). Business sponsors have the option to have their logo featured, or take advantage of larger advertisement placement opportunities within the program.
On the day of the event, doors will open at 4 p.m. to allow participants time to view auction items, visit the bar and mingle before the meal is served.
Live and Silent Auction items will include a mix of art, crafts, delicious foods, unique services, and custom-catered dinners, featuring specialty cuisines.
Tony “Farmer Tony” Villa will perform a comedy set, and also emcee the event’s live auction. Popular local group “The Hasty Brothers” will provide musical entertainment. The dress code is anything from casual to elegant.
While the annual event is primarily held to support the committee’s work throughout the year, Grant notes that it’s also a time to rally, socialize and relax.
“There’s a political component, of course,” he said, “but it’s also a gathering of community members, and a chance to see others they may not have seen for awhile. Everyone is welcome.”

Excellent article; eloquently written. Yet I'd just like to add that these people really know how to make people feel at home and included in this community.
Great article, thank you!
