Page County Crews Assist with Three Weekend Rockingham Fires
ELKTON, Va. — Local fire departments responded to several incidents Saturday, beginning with two brush fires, and ending with a blaze involving a former poultry structure.
Crews were dispatched to the East Point Road area on February 28, 2026 to contain a field fire that appeared to be spreading toward nearby cedar trees.
By mid-afternoon, crews were called to a separate fire at a former poultry facility in Berrytown.
A Rockingham County Fire and Rescue marshal told local news station WHSV-TV that the poultry house was vacant at the time of the fire.
No chickens were inside and only hay was stored in the structure.

At press time, information was was not yet released about the causes of the brush fire(s) or suppression efforts. Suppression details were not released for the poultry fire, but officials noted that the cause is under investigation.
