Page County Chase Ends with Elkton Man Behind Bars
SHENANDOAH, Va. — An Elkton man is behind bars after leading authorities on a two-county chase.
According to the Page County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred September 8, 2025.
At approximately 4:13 p.m., deputies patrolling the Maryland Avenue area observed a vehicle displaying an expired July 2023 inspection sticker.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting a pursuit that continued into Rockingham County.
The Shenandoah Police Department’s K9 unit was called in to assist. During the investigation, deputies discovered 31 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
The driver, identified as James Matthew McAlister, now faces the following charges:
• 18.2-248 - Possession with the Intent to Distribute
• 18.2-57 - Assault on Law Enforcement
• 46.2-817- Eluding
• 18.2-460 - Resisting Arrest
• 46.2-301- Driving Suspended
• 46.2-1158 - Expired Inspection
• 46.2-613 - Improper Registration
• 46.2-707- No Insurance
• 46.2-1049 - Loud Exhaust
• 46.2-1094 - No Seatbelt

Online court records show that McAlister is scheduled to appear in Page County General District Court on November 20.
