Page County Braces for Severe Monday Storms
LURAY, Va. — On Sunday, local agencies began preparing for a major weather system expected to move through the area on Monday.
On March 15, 2026, the following agencies issued alerts:
From the National Weather Service in Washington, DC - Wind Advisory
What: West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Where: Central Virginia Blue Ridge and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge.
When: From 11 a.m. Monday to 2 a.m. EDT Tuesday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
From the Page County Sheriff’s Office
Page County is currently on the line between a Moderate and Enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow.
MODERATE: Storms may bring damaging winds with gusts up to 65–75 mph, along with the possibility of a few tornadoes, some of which could be strong.
ENHANCED LOCALES: Storms may bring damaging winds with gusts up to 30-50 mph, along with the possibility of tornadoes, BUT not likely.
The National Weather Service provides coverage for both Page and Rockingham Counties, and we have included updates from the NWS along with information from our local meteorologist regarding tomorrow’s potential weather.
NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUTERS: Please use extra caution. Nova is well within the ENHANCED risk area, where severe storms and possible tornadoes are more likely, particularly between 3:00 - 6:00 PM.
Take a few simple steps today: secure outdoor items, charge your phones, and review your severe weather plan in case a tornado warning is issued.

These storms coming through are no joke.
They are starting Monday around 12-1pm. The storms will bring damaging winds, large hail, and the potential for a few tornadoes. Take 30 seconds and read these tips to stay safe.
If you can hear thunder, you should be indoors.
Be mindful of large trees close to the structure you’re staying in that could fall.
Stay on the lowest floor, in an interior room, and away from windows.
Prepare for extended power outages and roads being blocked by downed trees.

PCPS will close at 12 PM on Monday, 3/16/2026, due to forecasted storms and the potential for high winds.
