LURAY, Va. — A new Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is anticipated for East Luray Shopping Center. However, despite a “Now Hiring” banner at the future store, the location is not listed on the company’s careers website, giving prospective employees no way to apply.
Shen-Valley Times contacted the company by email seeking information about the future store and its hiring plans.
An Ollie’s representative said the Luray location is “tentatively scheduled” to open in early 2027, but that its real estate department is “still working on the details.”
In the email, the representative said management positions are typically posted about eight weeks before a grand opening, with hourly employees hired about three weeks before opening.
The representative suggested prospective employees visit the company’s careers website and also provided a link to a webpage listing job fairs for new stores. However, neither link included Luray.
The mixed messages have prompted questions from local residents, including when the store will open, when hiring will actually begin and how prospective employees are supposed to apply.
By all appearances, the store space has been gutted and is being prepared for renovation.
The Ollie’s representative did not provide an estimate of the number of employees it expects to hire, anticipated wages, or a date when Luray job applications will become available.
When asked for additional information, the company did not respond.
