Virginia Regional Transit is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization based in of Purcellville Virginia.
According to a spokesperson for the county, Virginia Regional Transit leads and operates the new local program, with Page County and local partners providing financial and planning support.
Several years ago, VRT sought the county’s support for a state-funded transportation study.
The county agreed and shared the $20,000 local match with Valley Health and the towns of Stanley and Luray.
VRT secured the grant and hired consultants to conduct the study.
The county helped gather data, hosted stakeholder engagement sessions and distributed a community survey.
After the study, VRT applied for an implementation grant and received funding in July 2026 to establish transit service in Page County.
The county and its partners also contributed a local match for that phase.
The county offered fare recommendations but has no operational role in the service, including hiring staff or setting routes.
Eligible riders may reserve ADA-compliant deviated-route service by calling 540-860-7196.
Reservations are encouraged the day before travel and may be made up to two weeks in advance.
During inclement weather, service will operate when conditions permit safe travel.
Service updates will be posted on Virginia Regional Transit’s website and social media.
For more information, call 540-860-7196.
* EDITOR’S NOTE: Riders should look for small portable yard signs indicating where to wait for the bus at each location. As of press time, it was unclear whether permanent signs would be installed at stops.
