New Bus Service Connects Harrisonburg to Virginia Beach
RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation has launched a new bus service connecting the Shenandoah Valley and Virginia Beach.
The route, dubbed the Tidewater Current, provides an alternative to driving for residents, students and visitors.
Officials announced the new service in a April 20, 2026 media statement.
As the first east-to-west route in the Virginia Breeze bus line network, the service expands access to destinations including Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg, Richmond, Charlottesville, Staunton and Harrisonburg.
Amenities offered on the Virginia Breeze system include reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, power outlets and onboard restrooms. Buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts to ensure rides are accessible to all. For travelers with luggage, storage space is available.
The Tidewater Current route includes stops at the following locations:
Virginia Beach Convention Center
Norfolk – Military Highway Park & Ride
Newport News – Newport News Transportation Center
Williamsburg – Williamsburg Transportation Center
New Kent – Colonial Downs / Rosie’s Gaming Emporium
Richmond International Airport
Richmond Main Street Station
Charlottesville – Scott Stadium
Staunton – Crossing Way Park & Ride
Harrisonburg – Godwin Transit Center
