Minor Traffic Stop Becomes Major Drug Bust in Page County
SHENANDOAH, Va. — A local man was arrested after he was discovered with suspected methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop.
According to a written statement from the Page County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), the incident occurred March 19, 2026.
A vehicle observed on Pennsylvania Avenue did not have a current Virginia state inspection sticker. An officer with the Page County Drug Interdiction Unit proceeded to initiate a traffic stop.
While the officer was issuing a summons to the driver, an additional officer and a K-9 unit arrived on scene.
The dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Cody Justin Ray Campbell, complied when asked to exit the vehicle, but kept his hands in his pockets.
When asked to show his hands, officers observed a baggie containing a crystal-like substance “in plain view.”
According to the PCSO, when officers attempted to take Campbell into custody, he resisted.
Assistance from all three officers was required to place him in handcuffs.
A subsequent search revealed three hypodermic needles and six individually packaged baggies.
A total of approximately 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine was recovered from the scene.
According to the PCSO, Campbell, 38, admitted that he’d planned to sell the contents of the baggies for profit. He was charged with the following offenses:
18.2-248 Possession With The Intent To Distribute
18.2-460 Obstruction Of Justice (Resisting Arrest)
54.1-3466 Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia
Online court records show that Campbell was released on bail and is due to appear in Page County General District Court on May 28.
