Man Stopped For Having No License Plate; Police Find $40,000 Worth of Drugs in Truck
CULPEPER, Va. - Members of the Blue Ridge Narcotics Task Force arrested a Manassas man on multiple charges after stopping him for a moving violation.
According to an emailed media release from Virginia State Police Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred Monday, January 29, 2025.
On Route 3, near Yellow Bottom Road, Culpeper Sheriff’s Office (CSO) deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy Tahoe that was missing a license plate.
During the stop, the driver attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
Officers located and seized 400 grams of cocaine (street value of $40,000), 19.2 grams of fentanyl (street value of $1,900) along with $980 in U.S. currency from the Tahoe.
Howard Bernard Jenkins, 43, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute I/II narcotics, one misdemeanor count of fleeing from law enforcement, and a traffic offense for failing to display a license plate.
He was transported to the Culpeper County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from the Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Madison, and Rappahannock Sheriff’s Offices, Culpeper, Warrenton, Orange Police Departments, and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Culpeper Field Office.
