LURAY, Va. — The Town of Luray has named Lonnie W. Foster Jr. its next police chief, effective September 1, 2026, according to a media statement released late Friday.
Foster has served with the Luray Police Department for 21 years and currently holds the rank of lieutenant. A complete bio was not provided in the announcement.
Foster has served as interim police chief since July 1, following the retirement of longtime chief C.S. “Bow” Cook.
According to the town’s August 28 announcement, Foster takes over the department with the support of Mayor Stephanie Lillard, the Luray town council, town staff and members of the police department who have served alongside him.
