Luray Firefighters Respond to Brush Fire Caused by 'Controlled Burn'
LURAY, Va. — The Luray Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) recently battled a brush fire off Long View Drive (near Egypt Bend Road) after a controlled burn spread beyond its intended area.
According to a LVFD media release, the incident occurred Sunday, April 12, 2026.
About 15 firefighters responded to the scene with multiple units, including Brush 10, Tanker 1, Tanker 8, Wildland 1 and Engine 12, according to the statement.
Approximately one acre burned before crews brought the fire under control.
The Virginia Department of Forestry assisted with the response.
