Luray DMV Closed During Review of 'Potential Inconsistencies'
LURAY, Va. — The DMV Select at 10 Fairlane Drive is temporarily closed while officials review operations, according to a statement from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
DMV Select offices are not operated directly by the DMV. Instead, the agency contracts with private individuals and local governments to provide limited vehicle-related services on its behalf.
According to the DMV website, the Luray location is operated by Audrey Campbell and Tina Campbell.
DMV Selects can process vehicle titling and registration transactions; however, they are prohibited from processing any online or franchise dealership work. DMV Selects do not issue Driver's Licenses, Learners Permits or Identification Cards.
In a written statement, DMV Public Relations and Media Liaison Camila Barco said the agency identified potential inconsistencies with policies and procedures at the Luray location.
The DMV is conducting what is described as a “quick but thorough review” to ensure all procedures and policies are being followed.
Operations at the Luray location have been suspended until the review is complete, and the office will remain closed until further notice.
According to Barco, customers who need to conduct DMV business can do so online at dmv.virginia.gov or visit other area customer service locations including:
Front Royal DMV Customer Service Center: 15 Water Street
Woodstock DMV Customer Service Center: 714-A North Main Street
Harrisonburg DMV Customer Service Center: 3281 Peoples Drive
