Local Residents Encouraged to Share Hawksbill Greenway Input Before June 28 Deadline
LURAY, Va. — Representatives with the Alliance for the Shenandoah Valley are reminding residents that Saturday, June 28 is the final day to complete the Hawksbill Greenway Expansion Survey.
A media statement shared on June 26, 2025 read as follows:
Do you enjoy walking, biking or running on the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway? What time of day do you use it? Do you have a favorite section and what do you enjoy most about being on the Greenway?
The Hawksbill Greenway Foundation and the Town of Luray are considering expanding the greenway to the Redwell-Isabella Furnace at Yager Spring, an area to the north of the existing path.
The proposed Greenway expansion also includes interpretive signs that will tell the story of Yager Spring, which flows an average of eight million gallons a day into the Hawksbill Creek, and the historic Redwell-Isabella furnace complex that formed because of the abundant water source.
Our partners at the Hawksbill Greenway Foundation need your feedback via a survey on your use of the greenway and the expansion.
The survey may be accessed HERE.
