Local Rescue Squad Answers 10 Calls in 48 Hours
STANLEY, Va. — The Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad (SVRS) responded to 10 calls in 48 hours during this weekend’s winter weather event.
On January 26, 2026, the SVRS issued the following statement of gratitude via Facebook:
We would like to thank our surrounding agencies(Luray Volunteer Fire Dept, Luray Police Dept, Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad and Stanley Volunteer Fire Department) for all their assistance and great teamwork.
Also, we would like to extend a big thanks to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department for plowing and snow removal efforts on our parking lot and driveway to get our apparatus/equipment mobilized to respond to the calls.
During those 48 hours, all calls were answered by 100% volunteers.
Please recognize all our volunteers have other jobs outside of the squad, family life, etc. and how difficult it is to assemble crews. Coverage of shifts is accomplished by personal dedication and teamwork efforts.
We are just so thankful to all the volunteers and community members who graciously support our agency.
