Local Firefighters Respond to Barn and Woods Fire in Elkton
ELKTON, Va. — On Wednesday, a structure fire that spread into nearby woods burned nearly two acres before firefighters brought the blaze under control.
On March 11, 2026, the Elkton Volunteer Fire department responded to reports of a fully involved barn fire in the 6500 block of Thoroughfare Road.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a crew of eight from the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department 70 responded with a brush truck, tanker and utility task vehicle.
Additional companies responding to the incident included Rockingham County and the Virginia Department of Forestry.
Firefighters were assigned to establish a containment line and assist with water supply operations. The fire was ultimately contained. No injuries were reported.
