Luray photographer celebrates athlete's journey from small town to big leagues
Congratulations to Lance Williams, who officially signed with the Chicago Cubs over the weekend after being selected in the eighth round of the 2026 MLB Draft!
Long before the draft announcements, college baseball and professional contracts, I had the opportunity to photograph Lance during his varsity baseball days as a Page County Panther.
Seeing those images again while watching our community celebrate this incredible accomplishment makes them even more meaningful.
These photographs captured a talented high school athlete with some very big dreams.
Now, that same athlete has officially signed with one of the most recognizable organizations in Major League Baseball.
This is exactly why I love photographing our local athletes.
We are not simply creating sports portraits.
We are documenting the beginning of stories that could lead anywhere, even all the way to professional baseball.
Congratulations, Lance!
Page County and the entire Shenandoah Valley are incredibly proud of you.
I cannot wait to see what comes next!
Parents, never underestimate the importance of preserving these years.
