Late-Night Fire Displaces Five in Front Royal; Cause Under Investigation
FRONT ROYAL, Va. — A late-night fire displaced five people after flames tore through a garage and spread into a home on Figgins Road Sunday night.
Warren County Fire and Rescue (WCFR) crews were dispatched just before 9:30 p.m. on August 24, 2025.
Battalion Chief 1 arrived within minutes and reported heavy fire conditions throughout the attached garage.
Officials said when firefighters arrived on-scene, the blaze had already breached the roof system.
Crews initially mounted a defensive attack before moving inside to battle the fire.
Water was supplied to the scene from a dry hydrant at the Front Royal–Warren County Airport.
The blaze was brought under control shortly before 11 p.m., and units remained on-site for nearly four hours.
No injuries were reported. However, five occupants of the home were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
During the response, WCFR entered a “No/Limited Units Available” status due to a shortage of resources, prompting an “all-call” for additional volunteer personnel.
Operations stabilized around 3 a.m. as units cleared the scene.
