Farm Machinery Destroyed in Stanley Fire
STANLEY, Va. — A hay baler was destroyed in a fire Wednesday afternoon, according to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD).
At approximately 3:42 p.m. on June 17, 2026 firefighters were dispatched for a reported farm machinery blaze on Mattie View Drive.
Upon arrival, crews found a hay baler fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading into a nearby field.
According to SVFD Captain Colin W. Huffman, the machine’s operator was able to safely disconnect the tractor from the burning equipment before firefighters arrived — preventing the fire from spreading to the vehicle.
The SVFD responded with Engine 24, Brush 24 and Tanker 24, along with 12 volunteer firefighters.
The Stanley Police Department and Page County Fire-EMS assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
