Extreme Cold and Wind Warnings Issued for Page County and Surrounding

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Washington DC has issued two weather warnings for February 7-8, 2026.
Areas affected: Portions of north central and western Maryland, northwest
and western Virginia, and eastern portions of West Virginia — including the counties of Washington, Frederick MD, Carroll, Central and Eastern Allegany,
Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick VA, Page, Warren, Clarke,
Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley, Jefferson, Hardy, Eastern Grant, and Eastern
Mineral.
A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
An EXTREME COLD WARNING is in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.
Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected.
Strong winds could down trees and power lines, resulting in widespread power outages.
Travel may be hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
Residents are advised to remain on lower levels of their homes during the windstorm and avoid windows.
Use caution when driving and remain alert for falling debris and tree limbs.
Wind chills ranging from 10 to 25 degrees below zero could lead to hypothermia or frostbite without proper precautions.
Those who must go outdoors should dress in layers, including hats, face masks and gloves.
Pets should be kept indoors whenever possible, and outdoor animals should have access to warm, dry shelter, food and unfrozen water.
Officials also recommend checking frequently on older family members, friends and neighbors.
Portable heaters should be used properly, and generators or grills should never be used indoors.
