Community Discussion on Health Funding Reductions This Wednesday in Luray
Public forum to examine federal cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and ACA coverage
LURAY, Va. — As Page County residents continue to call for greater access to affordable healthcare, a community panel will meet October 15, 2025 to discuss how upcoming federal cuts could affect local families, hospitals, and treatment programs.
The public forum, hosted by Community Works 4Page, will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the West Luray Recreation Center (“The Rec”), located at 630 West Main Street.
The event, titled “How Federal Cuts to Healthcare Affect Us,” will feature three panelists with direct experience in our region’s health systems.
Jeffrey Feit, Chief Medical Information Officer for Valley Health, will discuss how the new federal cuts may impact the hospital’s finances and its ability to serve Page County residents — including those on Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance.
Nicky Fadley, Executive Director of Strength in Peers, will share how federal funding reductions have already affected local substance abuse treatment programs, including services provided through the Page County Sheriff’s Office.
Dan Sullivan, with Enroll Virginia, will explain how the changes could increase costs and barriers to coverage for children, parents, seniors, and people with disabilities — and what steps residents can take to protect their access to healthcare.
Organizers say the discussion aims to help residents understand the scope of the cuts, prepare for possible impacts, and learn what resources remain available locally.
This forum is not a political or partisan event and is open to the general public.
