LURAY, Va. — The Luray Volunteer Fire Department recently received a much-appreciated grant from the Andersen Corporation.
The $6,000 donation will be used toward the purchase of a washer and dryer specifically designed to launder firefighter gear.
After fire-suppression calls, these units remove harmful contaminants from protective equipment.
The total cost of the project is in excess of $20,000 and the department plans to implement the new machines by December 2025.
Andersen is a major employer in Page County. The plant focuses on the assembly and production of residential storm doors.
Organized in 1901, the Luray Fire Department remains 100% volunteer. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
